Nisley Elementary Bond Work
Before bond-funded Priority Improvement Projects began, Nisley Elementary was in fair condition, with several notable facility needs. The most significant included aging HVAC rooftop units, boilers and controls, site paving, plumbing upgrades, worn interior finishes and casework, and outdated light fixtures. The school also had major asbestos-containing material abatement needs and accessibility improvements required to meet ADA standards. From an educational perspective, the Nisley facility needed updated special education and small-group spaces, improved classroom acoustics, music room upgrades, a stronger computer lab, and better visibility and supervision of learning spaces.
At Nisley Elementary, bond-funded work focuses on strengthening building safety systems and improving daily learning environments, especially for young learners.
Nisley is now also home to District 51’s Early Childhood Center, creating a centralized location for multiple preschool programs across the district. This allows families to access early learning services in one place, improves coordination among programs, and helps ensure young students receive consistent, high-quality support as they begin their educational journey.
