We have another great week ahead of us, starting with the Middle School Career Fair on Monday, April 18, welcoming all eighth-graders to explore their future college and career plans and wrapping up with the D51 Foundation’s White Iced Fundraiser next Friday evening, where we honor our teachers and principals. Below are a few other events to be aware of.

Music Performance Festival

The 97th Colorado West Invitational Music Performance Festival will take place all day next Thursday and Friday, April 21-22, as well as the morning of Saturday, April 23. This huge festival will welcome 165 performing ensembles to our valley from across the state and as far away as Idaho. Band, jazz band, choral groups and orchestras will perform at five locations across the valley: Central High School, Grand Junction High School, Palisade High School, and two locations on the Colorado Mesa University campus. D51/Special Olympics Colorado Track and Field Meet

The Track and Field Meet hosted each year by District 51 and Special Olympics Colorado is one of my favorite events of the year. The meet will take place at Stocker Stadium on Tuesday, May 3. Opening ceremonies will be at 10:15 a.m. and the meet will take place from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. I hope to see you there!
