Grand Junction, CO – Come to Lincoln Park at 11:30 a.m. Friday, June 7, 2019, for the Summer Meals Kickoff! 

This free event marks the official launch of summer meal services for all kids 18 and younger in Mesa County. The event will include fun activities and information about summer services in our community, including Lunch Lizard mobile lunch service and summer meals offered at seven D51 schools. The Lunch Lizard will make its daily stop at Lincoln Park to offer free lunches for kids from 1:45 to 2:15 p.m.

About the Lunch Lizard

The Lunch Lizard is now in its fifth year of delivering meals to hungry kids in neighborhoods with a high number of students receiving free meals during the school year. The Lunch Lizard program serves meals reimbursed through the USDA’s Summer Food Service Program. The program operates two food trucks and a van generously paid for by local donors, including the Western Colorado Community Foundation, Rocky Mountain Health Plans, Alpine Bank, Grand Junction Lions Club, Share Our Strength/No Kid Hungry, and students at Colorado Mesa University and Independence Academy.

In addition to the Lunch Lizard stops, students can get 
free lunches Monday through Friday June 17-July 19 from noon to 1 p.m. at Pomona Elementary and from 12:15 to 1 p.m. at Chatfield Elementary, Clifton Elementary, Dos Rios Elementary, Rim Rock Elementary, and Bookcliff Middle School. Chipeta Elementary will serve lunch from noon to 1 p.m. Monday through Friday June 3-Aug. 2. 

All school meal sites and Lunch Lizard stops will be without service July 1-5 for Independence Day.
