Fruita, CO - Due to a number of individuals testing positive for COVID-19, Shelledy will suspend in-person learning at least through the coming week as a precaution. Here is the schedule for the coming week, April 26-30:

  • Monday, April 26: Shelledy teachers will prepare remote learning lessons for all students. Shelledy students will not have class.

  • Tuesday-Friday, April 27-30: Shelledy students will be in remote learning.

We are waiting to hear from Mesa County Public Health whether we will need to remain in remote learning past the end of this week. We will notify you as soon as we have that information.

We have been preparing for this situation from the beginning of the school year, and our staff are ready to support our learning community during this time. Students will transition to remote learning only temporarily. Each student can use their Chromebooks for remote learning, and we will announce soon how and when students can pick up their Chromebooks. Please contact Shelledy Elementary, 970-254-6460, if you need a hotspot for internet service.

Shelledy staff will be preparing to move instruction to Remote Learning on Monday.  A more detailed plan will be sent to you later this weekend outlining the learning plan and how to pick up chromebooks and materials for the week.

COVID-19 is spread from person to person, mainly through droplets that are produced when a person coughs, sneezes, or talks. Virus spread is most likely to occur when people are in close contact with one another (within about 6 feet) for at least 15 minutes. Symptoms of COVID-19 include:

  • Fever or chills

  • Cough

  • Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing

  • Fatigue

  • Muscle or body aches

  • Headache

  • New loss of taste or smell

  • Sore throat

  • Congestion or runny nose

  • Nausea or vomiting

  • Diarrhea

Please continue to monitor your symptoms during this time. If you or anyone in your household begins to develop symptoms, please contact your doctor or go to one of the open testing sites across Mesa County for a free COVID-19 test.
