5th-graders receiving their Seal of Biliteracy in the DIA gym in 2021Grand Junction, CO - Two ceremonies for our District 51 Seal of Biliteracy-earners are coming up April 28 and May 5!

At 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 28, seniors who have earned their Seal of Biliteracy will be celebrated at Grand Junction High School. The Seal of Biliteracy ceremony for fifth-graders will be at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 5, at Dual Immersion Academy.

Students can earn a Seal of Biliteracy at the fifth-grade, eighth-grade, or 12th-grade level by demonstrating academic proficiency in English and at least one other language taught in D51 (Spanish, German, or French).

The Seal of Biliteracy shows a student is biliterate, bilingual, and culturally aware. The seal gives students a competitive edge on college and scholarship applications and prepares them for a multilingual workforce.
