Grand Junction, CO - Tonight, Jan. 21, 2020, D51 School Board members adopted the calendar for the 2020-21 school year.

The calendar will begin school on Monday, Aug. 10, 2020 (Aug. 12, 2020, for kindergarten students), and have the last day of school on Friday, May 21, 2021.

The 2020-21 calendar has the same number of fragmented weeks (those with more than one and fewer than five school days) as the 2019-20 school calendar. Other features of the 2020-21 calendar include:
* Fragmented weeks that are at least three school days long, in response to teacher feedback that having a two-day week for students in October 2019 was not what was best for learning.
* A Spring Break aligned with the Spring Break for Colorado Mesa University so students taking concurrent courses can continue their learning with minimal disruption.
* Quarters that are similar in length to help keep curriculum pacing on track no matter which quarter a class is offered.

*Please note that this calendar is in the draft form that was presented to the Board of Education on January 21, 2020. A finalized calendar will be sent to staff and families soon.

*A previous version of this post linked to a calendar with incorrect placement of Presidents Day 2021. The calendar was updated the morning of January 22, 2020.
