Grand Junction, CO – New Emerson School, a District 51 elementary school with a STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts, and Math) focus, will begin pre-registration for all grade levels K-5 on Monday, Feb. 5, 2018.

Unlike traditional school options, New Emerson enrolls students from across the Grand Valley instead of one geographic area. Parents who are interested in having their children start the program in any grade kindergarten through fifth-grade can pre-register during the first full week of February. Names of pre-registered students are then drawn in a lottery in March, determining who can enroll.

Parents who are interested in sending their children to New Emerson this coming fall can pre-register from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday, Feb. 5, through Thursday, Feb. 8, or between 8 and 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 9, in the school’s main office. Signing up early will not offer a student any advantage in the lottery drawing, so there is no rush to sign up early on Feb. 5. Parents who register for the lottery also must attend a tour at one of the following times on March 2, 2018: 11 a.m., 1 p.m., or 2 p.m.

The lottery drawing will take place Monday, March 5. Letters will be sent Monday, March 12, to parents notifying them whether their children have been accepted for enrollment or placed on the wait list.
