Grand Junction, CO – You are invited to a ribbon-cutting ceremony for Nisley Elementary School’s new playground at 9 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 17, 2019, at 543 28 ¾ Road.
Nisley’s playground has seen few updates since the school opened 61 years ago and lacked universally-accessible play equipment. The new equipment will better serve all students and feature swings, slides, a climbing structure, sensory panels, and fitness stations, as well as space for outdoor learning.
Several partners helped make this project possible, including Great Outdoors Colorado. GOCO awarded the playground project a $110,000 School Yard Initiative grant. The total project budget is $158,000.
Other contributors and supporters include Academy Bank, Alpine Bank, BNSF Railway Foundation, Bobcat Rockies, Chimney Doctors, Ciavonne Roberts & Associates, City of Grand Junction, Commercial Refuse Service, Delta Timber and Lumber, District 51, FCI, FedEx, Golden Fights, Goodwin Septic, the Hamiltons, Home Depot, Mesa County, Pacific Steel & Recycling, Polaris Survey, James Lee Rivers, United Companies, and Western Rockies Federal Credit Union.
