Grand Junction, COThe D51 Foundation will present a check for $20,000 for professional learning for District 51 teachers at noon on Monday, June 3, 2019, at the annual Summer Institute at Grand Junction High School, 1400 N. Fifth St.

Each year, the school district hosts a Summer Institute for hundreds of D51 teachers during the first week after school ends. While students will spend June 3-7 enjoying time off for summer break, more than 500 teachers will voluntarily spend their time at Summer Institute listening to speakers and learning collaboratively with colleagues from across the district in sessions aimed at helping them hone their craft.

Summer Institute will take place from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. June 3-7, with all sessions taking place at Grand Junction High School. After the check presentation, stick around from 12:20 to 1:10 to hear a keynote address from Pam Allyn, the creator of LitCamp, which is the curriculum D51 uses for K-8 summer learning.
