The investigation will focus on the nature and cause of the reported discrepancy between the actual cost of the re-organization and the cost previously reported to the board.

The board selected Jane Quimby, a retired Special Agent for the Federal Bureau of Investigation, to perform the investigation. As the former Director of the Department of Public Safety at Colorado Mesa University, Quimby provided oversight for public safety-related academic programs, including the Western Colorado Peace Officers Academy, wildland fire management, public safety diving, emergency dispatch, and the EMT-Paramedic programs. She is a member of the Colorado bar, licensed to practice law in the State of Colorado.

The Board of Education budget will pay for the investigation, which is projected to be completed within a month. Investigation findings will be announced during a board meeting following the completion of the investigation.
