11-13 Middle School Remote Learning Update

11-13 Middle School Remote Learning Update
Posted on 11/13/2020

Dear D51 staff and families,

After considering the amount of positive cases and students and staff in quarantine impacting each middle school, the following schools will transition to remote learning until Thanksgiving Break.

Bookcliff Middle School
East Middle School
Grand Mesa Middle School
ount Garfield Middle School
Orchard Mesa Middle School
Redlands Middle School
West Middle School

Fruita Middle School will continue with in-person learning at this time, as they are not as heavily impacted by the effects of positive cases and quarantines, and they are able to continue in-person learning with little disruption.

High school students at Gateway will begin remote learning on Monday, and middle school and elementary students will continue with in-person learning.

Each school will be in touch with their families with more information regarding class schedules, student expectations, and other instructions. Please continue to check your emails for more information.

All D51 high schools, including Fruita 8/9, Valley, and Career Center, will be in remote learning Monday, November 16, through Friday, November 20.

Elementary schools will continue with in-person learning at this time. While some elementary schools are working to respond to positive cases in their staff and students, they are not experiencing the same level of cases or quarantines as our secondary schools. Elementary school situations are being considered on a case-by-case basis and might temporarily move some classes or grades to remote learning if needed. We hope that, by moving the older students to remote learning, resources like substitute teachers can be directed to elementary schools so they can remain open.

We will continue to monitor and evaluate the situation in our community to determine our next steps after Thanksgiving Break. We will make a final decision by Wednesday, November 25, and communicate it with families. Please continue to check your phones, emails, d51schools.org, and District 51 social media for that information. It is still our goal to have all students return to in-person learning after the Thanksgiving Break because we believe it is in the best interest of our students, staff, and community to be actively engaged in the learning process together.

Thank you,

Mesa County Valley School District 51
