Home Schooling
Home School is considered a non-public education option. Home-based education is defined under Colorado Revised Statute, (§22-33-104.5, C.R.S.), and provides guidelines for the public.
The parent or legal guardian who oversees a home school program is responsible for selecting books, supplies, tests, curriculum and any costs associated. The school district does not supply books or curriculum. A student completing home school through a home school program is different than a student enrolled at an online school or a public school that allows a student to complete their education at home.
There are a variety of external organizations that provide support to home school families. The links are provided in the home school handbook.

The D51 Notice of Intent to Home School forms for the 2025–2026 school year are now closed.
Forms for the 2026–2027 school year will be available beginning July 21, 2026. To help ensure timely processing, we encourage families to wait until that date to submit a new Notice of Intent, as submissions received earlier may be delayed while we complete the closeout of the current school year.
Notices of Intent submitted for the current school year will continue to be processed
