Our dedicated team is committed to providing comprehensive support and services to students with diverse learning needs, ensuring every child has the opportunity to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

What We Do:

Individualized Education Programs (IEPs): We collaborate with parents, teachers, and specialists to develop tailored IEPs for students with disabilities, outlining goals, accommodations, and specialized instruction to meet their unique needs.

Assessments and Evaluations: Our team conducts thorough assessments and evaluations to identify students' strengths, challenges, and learning styles, guiding personalized intervention strategies and instructional approaches.
Inclusive Education: We promote inclusive practices within classrooms, fostering environments where all students feel valued, respected, and supported in their learning journey.

Professional Development: We offer ongoing professional development opportunities for educators and staff, equipping them with the knowledge, skills, and resources to effectively support students with disabilities and create inclusive learning environments.

Transition Planning: We assist students and their families in planning for life beyond high school, facilitating smooth transitions to post-secondary education, vocational training, employment, and independent living.

Services We Provide:

Specialized Instruction: Our highly qualified special education teachers deliver evidence-based instructional strategies and interventions tailored to students' individual needs, promoting academic progress and skill development.

Related Services: We offer a range of related services, including speech-language therapy, occupational therapy, physical therapy, counseling, and assistive technology, to address students' unique needs and enhance their educational experience.

Behavioral Support: Our behavior specialists and support staff provide proactive behavior management strategies, social-emotional learning opportunities, and positive behavioral interventions to help students develop essential skills and succeed in school.

Parent and Family Engagement: We value the partnership between home and school and actively involve parents and families in the special education process, providing resources, support, and opportunities for collaboration to ensure student success.

Community Partnerships: We collaborate with community agencies, organizations, and service providers to enhance the continuum of care and support available to students with disabilities, fostering seamless transitions and access to community resources.

The Special Education Department in School District 51 is dedicated to fostering an inclusive, supportive, and equitable learning environment where each and every student can reach their full potential.
