As the new school year approaches, families play an important role in ensuring
a smooth transition for their children. To help our families navigate the
back-to-school season with ease, we've compiled the ultimate back-to-school

What school will my child attend?
Are you living in a new neighborhood or new to District 51? Welcome! Visit

What is the first day of school?

How do I register my child for school?
Registration opens Tuesday, July 18. If your child is staying at their school
for another year, all you need to do is confirm enrollment on ParenVUE. If you
child is new to town, changing schools within in the district, or startting
kindergarten, you will need to fill our enrollment forms on ParentVUE and
present some documents at your child's school office.

What documents do I need to register my child for school?
While enrollment forms can be filled out online (click here), some records must be presented in person to complete your child's school
enrollment. Please bring the following to the office of your child's school if
you are enrolling in a new school: birth certificate, immunication records,
parental ID, and proof of residency (utility bill or mortgage statement).

How do I receive help with school supplies?
If you cannot afford school supplies, your child's school may be able to help!
Each school receives supplies donated to the Stuff the Bus Supply Drive and
distributes them to those who inquire about the supplies. The amount of supplies
available varies by year, depending on how many donations are received through
Stuff the Bus. Call your child's school if you would like to request
supplies.

How do I receive essential school communications?
Each school and District 51 use the information you provide in your registration
documents to contact you by phone or email regarding important school
communications. Please ensure the information your child's school has for
contacting you is up-to-date.
How do I receive emergency communications?
Each school and District 51 send out communication regarding shelter in
place, lockdown, and reunifircation incidents via text, as well
as hazardous weather (delays and closures) communications. To ensure you recieve
this crucial communication,
we encourage you to sign up to receive text messages from the district or
your child's school by texting "YES" to 67587.
How do I apply for free and reduced school meals?
All breakfasts and lunches are free for all students beginning in the 2023-24
school year, thanks to a vote-approved bill passed in November 2022.
It is crucial for families to continue completeing a meal beneift
application if their household qualifies in order for your child's school
and our district to receive full access to federal funding. The application can be completed online
here, or you may pick up a paper application at your child's school or the
Nutrition Services Office located at 2280 East Main Street, Grand Junction, CO
81501.
