Welcome to District 51

Emergency Alert

February 21, 2018

We know that many parents, students, staff members, and community members are shaken, angry, sad, confused, and concerned about safety. This mix of emotions has led to heightened awareness of school safety issues, but has also contributed to a churning rumor mill.

If a student mentions that he or she is feeling fearful and wants to discuss school safety, please refer to these talking points to help guide your conversation.

In all cases, we urge the community to report immediate concerns to Safe2Tell, rather than perpetuating rumors on social media. Our District 51 security team and partners at local law enforcement work relentlessly, around the clock, to investigate every report, and to ensure continued school safety.

***To opt in to emergency texts from District 51, text “Yes” to 67587**
