Emergency Meal Service Program

Emergency Meal Service Program Information

Extended to the end of summer break 2020

D51 Food & Nutrition Services will provide safe nutritious daily meal service for all children 18 years or younger at eleven sites and three Lunch Lizard mobile stops. All drive thru stops are selected based on USDA Eligibility Requirements in 50% or greater free and reduced areas of Mesa County. Any child can participate in this Emergency Food Program.

Please see the schedule below for location and serve times. We will provide children with a lunch choice of either the hot entree of the day OR cold option of the day. All lunch choices will include fruit, veg & milk (substitutions will occur based on supply availability). In addition to the daily lunch choice, students will receive a grab 'n' go breakfast pack to be used as a breakfast for the next morning.

Meals will be provided curbside in the main entry loop of the designated sites. We will distribute the pre-packed sack lunch & breakfast similar to a drive thru at a restaurant to help ensure social distancing. Kids Aid will provide food bags every Friday at all locations during meal serve times.

Funding for the emergency childhood hunger program is through the USDA school meal programs. Community members interested in financial support can help out by supporting struggling families at our D51 Foundation Angel Lunch Account.
