Here, you'll find key dates, application deadlines, and details about the lottery/application process for District 51’s choice programs. School Lottery Programs
A Lottery School Program offers families the opportunity to apply for enrollment in select schools that may have specialized programs or unique learning environments. To apply, families submit an application during the enrollment period, and placements are determined through a random lottery selection process.
Dual Immersion Academy
Our dual language elementary school offer a rich educational environment where students learn and develop fluency in two languages simultaneously. DIA provides instruction in both English and Spanish, often with a balanced approach, ensuring that students become proficient in both their native language and a second language. By integrating language learning into various subjects such as math, science, and social studies, dual language programs foster bilingualism and biliteracy while also promoting multicultural understanding and appreciation.
2024 Lottery Schedule
- Sibling/Prioritized Enrollment Registration: 11/4/24 - 12/19/24
- Kinder/1st - 5th Waiting List Lottery Registration: 12/9/24 -12/19/24
- Spanish Language Verification: 1/7/25 & 1/8/25
- Lottery (K-5th grade): 1/9/25 @ 10:00 a.m. *Lottery registration materials can be picked up between 8 a.m. - 4 p.m. Mon - Thurs. or 8 a.m. - noon Fri.
- Acceptance/Denial Notifications: Notification for acceptance and wait list will be made via phone by 1/10/25. Letters will be mailed to families prior to 1/17/25. *If you have not heard about your student's application status by the end of the day on 1/17/25, please contact Dual Immersion Academy.

New Emerson School
STEM/STEAM elementary schools play a vital role in preparing students for the demands of today's world by emphasizing hands-on learning in science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics. These schools provide students with a strong foundation in critical thinking, problem-solving, and creativity.
